A simple method
- Read the Arabic and the transliteration out loud.
- Learn the meaning in English until you can say it without looking.
- Use the name in dua: “Ya Rahman, have mercy on me.” Call upon Allah by the name that fits what you are asking for.
- Review yesterday’s names before starting new ones.
Examples in dua
- Ar-Raḥmān — Ya Rahman, cover me with Your mercy.
- Al-Ghafūr — Ya Ghafur, forgive what I cannot repair myself.
- Ar-Razzāq — Ya Razzaq, provide for me from where I do not expect.
- Al-Hādī — Ya Hadi, guide my heart to what You love.
